Walking in Between Realities

Chapter 12

It starts out as a normal wednesday morning and the 4 siblings are getting ready to go to school. Trisha wanted to play around with Sano, to cheer her up, by dressing her in cute schoolgirl outfit. She knew her little sano hasn’t been feeling well since the Mall incident. She thought she could lighten the mod with a dress-up game. Sano isn’t a girly-girl and she isn’t a huge fan of dressing up, but she just went with it. Edward and Alphonse were passing by the hallway after getting ready, till hearing Sano yelling, “NO TRISHA- NO MORE OUTFITS!” They got curious and peeked into her room. Where they see Sano blushing crazily whilst sporting a cute blue and maroon schoolgirl uniform. Edward blushed like a maniac of how cute she was. Sano turned to see them staring and frowned, Alphonse teases her, “You should go to school like that. You might get some fans.” Trisha and Alphonse laugh as Sano blushed as red as a tomato. Edward just stood in awe till Alphonse nudges him, “Come on guys we need to get to school.” he leaves, Edward follows him afterwards, “I know that!” they left heading out the door. "WAIT!" Sano quickly changed into her normal outfit; her white shirt and navy blue jacket, sweat pants and her normal sneakers. Even though the dress code for girls is wearing skirt, Sano is known as a rebel for disobeying that one rule. “Wait for me!” and she suddenly jumped from the stairway, but Hohenheim was right below. She was about to jump him! She twirled her body a bit miss his body and lands just inches away from his back. Hohenheim looked around confused, then walked away shrugging. Sano smiled before she ran out after Edward, so they could walk together to school. They walked down the steps calmly, then Edward tugged on her arm bringing his lips to her ear, “You know, Sano, we do need to tell them what’s going on with you and your demon powers. Haven’t you figured out more about this Ryuu and that your family are after because of-”

“Yeah I know. I’m just afraid what they will think of me as I’m changing. Your father and Emily are the only ones that saw me transformed. I just..” Edward sighs putting his hands behind his head as he thought to himself. Sano thought aloud as they walk, “What I know so far about my relatives motives is that they were after my family and I to bring back our grandma, and as of now they’re testing my new abilities. Seeing how William attacked me so openly like that in the mall. But why he attacked me in public like that is strange. If they wanted to assassinate me and Emily, they would have done something like they did to my mom-” suddenly Sano felt a cold chill from saying that but shrugged it off. Edward noticed and eyed her closely. Sano could just feel the stress rising from her head. She dug her hands into her blazer’s pocket. Edward pats her shoulder so she can face him. “Don’t stress, Sano They’re just trying to get under your skin- trying to scare you. They’re planning something, but I know you’ll be alright. You’ll catch them for sure! You can depend on me too, you know. I’m always on your side I hope you know that.” She smiles feeling a bit better and refresh of his words. Till she remembered his wounds, “What about your wound- your ankle? And the automail?” Edward gave his normal big smile and laughs, “PLEASE- this is nothing!” and he raises his arm high waving it- till he stops and fell to his knees. Sano came to his side worried, he just gives a weak smile saying, “I guess I’m not completely healed… But at least I can still walk.” Sano sighed with a curved smile helping him up and held on to his arm and walk to the school’s front gates. “Jeez you and your cocky attitude...” Edward blushes a bit, “Hey- Hey Sano I’m fine you don’t need to help me...”

“I know, but I just want to be careful...” she says holding onto his arm gently. He brushes it off as he can feel her boobs against his arm and he blushes even harder.

      Throughout the school day, Sano and Edward kept catching each other staring at one another. They don’t know why, but they can’t help it. One time when the teacher was getting ready to set up group project and partners, Edward just had a twinkle in his eye as the teacher took out a hat full of the names of the students. For the past few weeks whenever this happens, Edward and Sano are always picked. Sano didn't mind but she always wondered. "So, the first one is..." he reaches in and Edward taps his foot on the ground for a zapping buzz echo onto the floor to the hat. The teacher then held out a card, "Edward Elric! And..." he reaches in again as the students sigh knowing who could be next. And the teacher took out another card after Edward tapped his foot again, "And why am I not surprise... Sano Edmund.." Edward turned to Sano giving her a wink and a big grin. Sano couldn't help but blush and smiles back.

    During their math class, Edward passes a note to Sano. She opens it reading Edward wanting her to meet him at his locker. After class she meets him there. He looked rather timid. She comes up to him with a smile, before he grabbed her hand firmly to lead her to an empty yard, at the back of the school. This yard is where the floral club goes planting their flowers by the greenhouse. There was a river of flowers everywhere, all cluttered into this small greenhouse. They walk in seeing more flowers in the little greenhouse in 2 columns. “This is so pretty Edward.”

“I’m glad you like it. I thought this will be a great place to clear your mind a little.” Sano turned to him seeing him blush a little, but he moves away to the next alley looking at other flowers. "That's really nice of you, Edward." he didn't respond and just stared at the flowers not looking at her. She moves over to the other column of flowers, but keeps glimpsing back at Edward. When he looked back at her, she immediately looked away and stared at the flowers. This is strange. Why did he bring me here really? and why is he blushing? The two blondes reached the end of the two columns bumping into each other without realizing. Their eyes locked, staring at each other in awe. Sano could hear her heart pound in her ears and her cheeks getting hot. She doesn’t want to look away. What is this feeling? She thought, my chest hurts...And he’s not looking away! Then Edward’s hand reached to caress her cheek while the other held her close around her waist. He came closer to her as their lips were so close. Although their moment was ruined when they heard students coming into the greenhouse. Edward grabbed Sano by the waist to kneel for cover below the table. Edward looked outside to see a few student girls walking away. He sighs and looks down to see Sano bowing her head in her knees. “Sano?” He kneeled down putting his hand on her head. “I’m sorry Edward, I can’t do this... It’s just... I’m still a bit stressed right now about the situation with Ryuu and everything I just... I’m already scared as it is here in school. No one likes me and I don’t want you to get involve.” Edward could hear the faint breaking in her voice. He sighs, “But I like you.” Sano jerked, snapping towards him, “Well- I-I mean is that um… As a friend- You should just ignore everyone- they’re jerks as it is anyway. And besides I can take care of myself. You don't need to worry for me. I want to look after you- as a friend- so don't push yourself so much ok.” Sano smiles sweetly, hugging him close. He smiles and hugs her back. Then a booming noise sound scares them as a couple of voices come in. “I TOLD YOU TO BE CAREFUL YUSUKE!”

“Whatever... you’re the one that dragged me into this anyway...” Sano thought the voices sound familiar, whilst Edward just moans annoyed. The girl heard Edward moaned, “I think someone is here... Who’s here?!” Sano and Edward stood up awkwardly.  Sano then gasp seeing her favorite anime characters, Kagome Higurashi and Yusuke Urameshi. They all look at each other shocked. “Oh it seems we busted in a wrong time. Sorry you guys can go back to your business...” Kagome took it that the two were in a romantic mood and she started to head out with Yusuke, but Edward and Sano blushed in protest. “Oh no we weren’t...”

“We weren’t doing anything like that...”

“Ah jeez I could care less if they’re making out or not! We are looking for an outs-” complained Yusuke, till he looked at Sano and he beamed. “Hey wait, who are you?” he pointed to Sano.

“Um... Sano Edmunds...” Then his face started to gleam and he sighed in relief. Along with Kagome who sighs and smiles relieved. “Oh Man so you’re the famous Sano I hear a lot about! It’s nice to finally meet you!” he cheers coming to her.

"Really? I’m famous?" Sano raises a brow curious.
"Oh Yes- I heard so much about you here in the school and from my-uh- a friend.." he started to stutter the last part which sounded suspicious to Sano. Kagome and Edward stare confused- especially Edward, he felt mostly envious. He suddenly took Sano by the back of the collar, “Sorry guys but we’re in a hurry- we have places to go. SEE YA!” and he started running out of the greenhouse dragging her along with him. “It was nice meeting you Yusuke and Kagome!” Sano waved goodbye to Yusuke as he waved back. Kagome glared at him for him to shriek nervously. “WHAT? I didn’t say anything bad..”

“Yeah but you almost blew yours and ‘his’ cover..”

       Meanwhile after Edward drags Sano away, they reach a stop the end of the hallway, “Jeez Edward why did you do that?” asked Sano, fixing her shirt. Edward didn’t turn to her but his voice sounded like he was piss, “Why were you talking to that guy so casually?” Sano blinks confused. He turns to her with an annoyed expression, “What the hell was that about!?” Sano blinks again till she gave a small smirk, “Ah so you’re jealous?” Edward flinched with his face flushed, “I’m not jealous.”

“Really? Then why is your face red? And you're getting mad that I was talking to another guy?” she crosses her arms giggling. Edward though wasn’t having it and shoves her against a wall, getting in her face. “I don’t want you to get any more stress about demons ok! I’m just trying to protect you. I know about that Yusuke Urameshi- He’s not human you know.” Sano felt guilty and pouts, “OK, calm down.. I’m sorry Edward.” Edward sighs and let’s her go before stretching his arms. Sano wanted to say something but he beat her to it to say, “You know, I could feel my arm is getting better by the minute. You want to hang out after school?”

“Sure!” cheers Sano as they head to their classes. But from across the hallway, a shadowy figure in the back watches them as the leave. With his hands in his pockets and eyes mysterious and alerted. Their green eyes study Sano carefully as she walks with Edward into the building.

She stood under a large tree, doodling in her new drawing pad which Edward got for her. She was doodling Edward in different expressions and one with him looking happy. She giggled to herself drawing him. He was really expressive so he was fun to sketch. As she minds her own business, some girls walk out of the front entrance to notice Sano alone. They smirked at each other before strolling towards her. Sano didn’t catch up their presence till she saw a hand take away the pad out of her hands. She saw the trio scan through her drawing pad without her consent. “Um Excuse me can you give that back please?”

“Oh look at these girls- she likes a guy and she’s doodling him.” teases the girl holding her pad. Sano could feel her cheeks steaming and her fist clenching from wanting to smack the girl. “Will you give me back my drawing pad now.” The girl holding her pad looked at her disgusted, then scooted back for the girls grouped, “Why should I?”

“Cause its mine and it’s not yours. And you took it without asking.” Said simply Sano giving them a glare. 
“Ah... But I kind of like these drawings so... I think I’ll keep it.”

“What are we in kindergarten.. No you can not keep them- Please give it back.” pleaded Sano making the girls laugh. “Oh gosh she’s even pleading to you to give her back her drawings- how cute!”

“Right- she’s so funny it’s pathetic!”

“I don’t need to give you anything, Freak.” Laughed the girl as she took a page and started ripping it to pieces. Sano stood still in shock as they destroy her drawings one by one. She felt tears fall and her fist burning as sparks started to burst. “OI- WHAT ARE YOU GIRLS DOING!?” a strong voice called came from afar. Everyone turned, finding the voice and the trio stopped. Sano turned to see no other but the most handsome guy she’s ever seen, Shuichi, or what she remembers is called Kurama. Sano saw his gorgeous red hair flowing with the wind, piercing grass green eyes, long luscious lashes and beautiful tan skin. He’s even more beautiful in person. As the closer he got to them, Sano could see he’s not just a gorgeous man- he’s a downright model! Sano stood still as he walks over and comes by her side. “What are you girls doing to this young lady?” The girls glare at him. The leader snaps at Sano for her to smash her book down, ruining it and some drawings falling everywhere. “I always thought your drawings were ugly anyway!” she yelled and they all run away. Sano sighs relieved, but frown seeing her pad. She whipped her eyes and sniffed as she cleaned the mess. She picks up a drawing, with Kurama helping her clean up the mess. “Just ignore them. They always think they’re the big boss of the school but they’re not.” Sano nodded and took the drawings and put them in her book. “And your drawings aren’t ugly either...” Sano gasped looking at him, he gives her a sweet smile and picks up her last drawing of Edward. He giggles handing it to her, “I like them.”

“Oh thanks… and thanks for helping me.” She smiles as she stood up, she realized how tall he is. She’s so used to looking at Edward in the eye but she has to lift her head to look at his. She’s only 5’2 anyway and she remembers him to be around 5’11. Kurama smiles to her again, “By the way, what’s your name?”

“My names Sano Edmunds. Nice to meet you.” smiles Sano shyly as she held her book tightly.

“It’s nice to meet you too. My name is Shuichi Minamino.”

“Isn’t it Kurama as well?” says Sano tilting her head. Kurama was shocked at first but nods to her. “So I guess they’re right that you’re an outsider. You must know a lot of things about the characters from your world.” Sano didn’t know how to react by his comment whether it’s a compliment or a threat. So she just stayed quiet. “Sano Edmunds huh?” sighs Kurama observing her then swinging his backpack over his shoulder, “Well, I don’t want to leave a nice girl like you in the open for another pack of creeps to bully you again. So... would you like to hang out with me?”

“I would love to Kurama but I’m waiting for a friend..”

“I would like to get to know you more though. Its rare to find a special OUtsider in theses parts. As one of the student presidents and chairmen to a few class representatives it would be a pleasure to know more about you, Sano Edmunds, and welcome you properly to this school.” Sano was quiet for a bit and gulped.

    Later Edward is running out in a hurry towards the front of the school. “Damn that meeting took forever- sorry for keeping you waiting Sano!” once he reached the front gate, there was no one there…

              Kurama and Sano hung out at a coffee place that Kurama recommend on going to. “Would you like some coffee, Sano?”

“Oh no thanks, I don’t want to trouble you.”

“It’s no big deal, if it was I wouldn’t offer.” Laughed Kurama.

“True, well I guess I’ll have an ice coffee.” They later sat and drank their coffee. “So, why did you want to hang out with me, Shuichi- or Kurama?” asked Sano after she sipped her coffee.

“Well like I said I’m one of the class presidents of the school committee of my grade and I like to know each of my classmates and get to know them. Plus everyone in the whole school knows about you and I was dying to meet you.” Smiles Kurama, leaning his head on his palm. “Aw So that’s only why...” sighs Sano feeling a bit sad and she glances at the window. Kurama noticed her tone and felt guilty, “Um, but don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe in any of the bad rumors people say. That’s why I want to get to know you.” Sano looks at him seeing him give another one of his sweet smile that melts any girl’s hearts. She would be lying if it wasn’t getting to her too. Sano blushed and looked away. “So, is it true that you’re an outsider?” he asked, leaning against his chair and crossed his arms and legs. “Yeah.” Kurama didn't really react. He simply stared her down and studied her face. “Why did you come to this world?”

“Because I want an education.” Answered Sano, she sips her coffee. Silence was filled between them. Kurama was even more curious about her. “What do you mean by that? What’s wrong with your world?”

“That’s personal...” answered Sano looking away from him. “Why are you so curious?” Kurama flinched nervously, “Ah well... You are just full of mysterious Sano-chan.”

“So is this world.” Answered Sano for Kurama to lose his smile. “I came to this world and I was shown with so many discoveries and new things. It’s kind of amazing and overwhelming at the same time. Especially with animes that I know are actually just TV shows in this world and the anime characters are actors. Let alone that everything in their show isn’t all true and there’s some things that are true about them.” That’s right. Things aren’t exactly the way they seem from here... Thought Sano as she looked up at the blue sky now fading to pinks and purple. From the sunset. Even for me and my family we’ve changed since we came here. I’ve joined souls with a demon and thank god for my sis and mom haven’t changed. But… Kurama was silently eyeing her closely, till she looked back to him. “What about you?”

“Hmm?”

“What about you and your show? Are you the same kind of guy that has the spirit of the fox Yoko Kurama?” Kurama was silent as his face was in awe struck whether to answer that or not. He thought he changes the subject. He giggles till going a laugh. Sano looks at him confused, “W-What did I say?”

“Oh no- it’s just...” he then stopped and leaned on the table to stare at her. His green eyes pulling her in as he locked her blue ones. She could feel her insides turn and crumble. Her cheeks were blazing hot again. She couldn’t look away from his eyes. Neither could he. He actually couldn’t help but stare at her too. “You’re eyes are very beautiful actually.” she blushes, “They are?”

“Yes. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul right? And when I look in yours, I see wonder.. strength... and love.” Sano takes a sip of her coffee, her cheeks burning from embarrassment. “What are you saying..” Kurama grins at her cute behavior as she sips away shyly. She didn’t know what to say. So her eyes drifted away from him to look to the clock. “Oh crap- it’s late. I have a curfew and I need to head back.” She freaked getting her stuff.

“I’ll walk you home.”

“Oh no- it’s ok Shuichi-Kurama. That’s sweet of you but I’ll be fine.” She smiles till she heads out. “It was nice talking with you.” She leaves with Kurama watching her fast walk across the street. His gaze went to a glare as she disappeared…

           Sano was heading home and it was already starting to get dark. She thinks of testing out her demon abilities. She transforms and leaps on top of the homes towards her house. She’s having fun, smiling and laughing. Then she felt a demonic aura somewhere. She stopped, leaping on a rooftop and observes her surroundings. It was quiet and nothing was moving about. “Sano... It isn't your sibling.” called Ryuu. She leaped off the rooftop into the middle of a small park. She listens to only hear silence. “Try to sense the aura...”

“Yeah.” Sano listened cautiously, sensing a demon behind her. She saw a little demon creature that looked like a stuffed rag doll. It sat by the edge of the sand box. The demon gave a creepy smile tilting its head. It looked all beat up with cuts and dirt, its eyes were bloodshot and skin white as paper. Sano felt a chill of fear go down her spine. Sano then heard some kids come by. She can’t let the demon hurt the kids. So she growled at the monster, “COME AND GET ME!” and she runs away hoping the demon followed her. It grew out its arms to crawl after her like a spider. She ran faster across rooftops- meanwhile far away Kurama is watching from the distance. He judges her movements and tests her limits as he controls the doll. He used one of his planting techniques and few other tricks to control this puppet to test her as she runs around. “Let’s just see how far you can go with my puppet..” He moves his fingers as he makes the creature crawl faster after Sano. Sano runs faster through corners and pass people as the thing runs after her. Sano then comes by a construction site. She moves past the large pipes and wood- along with the puppet following close behind. She stops suddenly and leaps from one of the pipes up into the building. The puppet did the same following her movements. But once the puppet was at the top of the building she was gone. The puppet looks around confused with Kurama confused as well. “Where is she?” Kurama felt a finger tap his shoulder. He turned around with Sano behind him giving him a glare. He stiffens, “Uuh…”

“You know, one thing I hate is when I hang out with a guy and we are having fun and chilling and we could possibly be friend but then the next thing that happens is THEY TRY TO KILL ME!!” she screams at him with fury, all red faced. Kurama flinched and bowed to apologize, “Ok-Ok- let me explain!?”

“Go. You have 1 minute.” Glares Sano, sitting down like a general.

“OK, I work for the company that is called The Protectors of the World, or mostly called Guardians. I work for the people that watch over the barrier between this world and yours. I was testing you since I was helping Hiei, my partner and the one that guided you here, that judge new people that come to this world. I already read your file and-”

“Wait my file?” questioned Sano stopping him.

“Yes. Whenever an outsider comes through the barrier, the barrier scans over the person and sends us a profile of that person’s life and personal background.”

“Jeez you guys are deep...” sighed Sano for Kurama to hold in a giggle from her comment.

“But even though I read your file to say you’re human, I sensed your aura.” Sano flinched knowing he figured about her being a demon. “So I tested whether you were human or a Mistaken.”

“A Mistaken?”

“A Mistaken is like a changer, outsiders that transform into nonhuman creatures.” Sano flinched thinking about her family getting a bit worried.

“My job simply is that I get rid of any newcomers that would bring harm to this world.”

“Alright. I understand...” Kurama nodded and huffed in relief. “But… WHY DID YOU HAVE TO KEEP THAT FROM ME!? I was honest with you the whole time when we hung out and you kept that from me!”

“Look I can’t just say that to anyone- it’s classify information and I can’t be discovered by anyone in our school.”

“Ok- but why test me!? God I feel like everyone is just testing me and judging me! I can’t do anything without someone breathing down my neck and wanting to check me over everything I do!” She screamed as she walked away. She then kicked the wall in front of her over frustration. She takes a deep breath and tries to calm down. Kurama stays still whether to speak or do something. “Ok, look we started on the wrong foot, why not start over?” He says softly walking toward her. “Look, I tested you and you pass. I think you’re an amazing girl no doubt. But you do need training for your abilities. I’m willing to help you with your problems. besides it's my job anyway.”

“Job?”

“I’m your assigned Guardian. Every outsider is assigned a guardian to watch over them as they progress their visit or stay here in the anime world.”

“Really?” Kurama nodded with a smile. Sano was quiet. She then looked at him concerned. “But with my training.. Will it change me completely? Won’t I still be considered a Mistaken by your standards?” Kurama looks at her sadly. Knowing what she really means, he can't help but feel sorry for her. He stands to stand by her side resting his hand on her shoulder. “Everything will be fine, Sano. Believe me. I’ll do my best to help you handle these powers of yours. With the proper training you will not be labeled as a Mistaken.” Sano sighs with a nod giving him a smile. “If you say so..”

“I do say so.” He nods. Sano huffs then and lays back on the ledge of the rooftop. She whines exhausted, “GOD- And let me tell you something Kurama- your puppet runs fast! I’m exhausted.” Kurama couldn’t help but giggle.       

“If you want I can carry you home?” offered Kurama as he kneeled down for her to get on his back. “Oh no- I’m fine…” she tries to get up but she’s still out of breath and tired.

“Yeah and you said that when I offered to walk you home...” he teases making the blonde blush pink. But she’s so tired and could feel herself ready to pass out from exhaustion. She tries to walk normally but she could feel her body giving out. Her stance looked sluggish to Kurama’s point of view. He was trying hard not to laugh at her walk. “Oh HUSH KURAMA! THIS IS PART Of YOUR FAULT TOO!” sassed Sano blushing like crazy. Kurama though surprised her by picking her up in his arms. Sano squeaked in surprise. He holds her close to start out on a sprint. He leaps gracefully on the roofs. Sano wrapped her arms feeling scared to be going at this speed and height from the ground. She glances at Kurama and saw him not even breaking a sweat. He was focused on his task and just held her close. She was feeling so warm. The same tingling feeling was bursting in her chest. The same she gets with Edward. The cold air thankfully helps cool her flushed face, so Kurama couldn't notice her blushing face. She tried to keep herself awake but her eyes were giving up on her. Soon enough before they’re halfway there, Sano fell asleep in Kurama’s arms.

              Meanwhile at the Elric’s family mansion, Edward is mad as hell and is pacing back and forth impatiently. He would glimpse at the front door hoping for Sano to come through. “Damn that Sano. Where the hell are you?” Edward is not only jealous since he thinks that she’s with another guy but he’s worried that her siblings got her. As he’s stressing, Alphonse appears behind him, “Hey Ed.” He spooked Edward for him to shriek loudly. Alphonse freaks, “Jeez Edward you need to calm down. Sano is fine I bet she has a good explanation of why she’s late. She must be hanging out with a new friend..”

Edward sighs, “Yeah I know but things are a bit crazy for her I’m just worried something could have happened to her.”

“Like what Ed?” questioned Alphones with his hands on his hips. Then the doorbell rang. Edward ran to the door and swung the door open ready to scream at Sano, giving her a piece of his mind for ditching him. Then he stopped. He looked to see a slender taller man, with red long hair and forest green eyes holding onto a sleeping Sano in his arms. “Well... I can see what could've possibly of happen here.” sighs Alphonse awkwardly in the background. Edward flinched by his brother’s comment but ignored it. “I found her collapsed a few blocks from the school. I carried her here, she’s fine though.” He answered bluntly then putting her in his arms gently, almost handing over a baby to their parents. Edward observed the guy curiously, noticing he has the same outfit as his school. Sano made a little yawning sound as she snuggled in Edward’s neck giving him shivers. Edward could feel himself blushing but ignored it seeing Kurama was still there. They stared at each other for a while studying each other. “Thanks for bringing her home, Ginger boy.” And he slams the door in his face. Kurama blinks a few confused, but waved it off after whispering, “See ya Hobbit.” And he disappeared…

     Edward sighed before heading up the stairs immediately with the sleeping Sano in his arms. Once stepping his first step, he noticed all the eyes of the family staring at him. Edward glares, “A weird guy from my school brought her over like this ok. I’m bringing her to bed...” Edward could hear his father chuckles as he walks away. Trisha sighs and brushes him off walking away. Emily gets flustered seeing her, “Oh Jeez SANO!?”

“SHH- she’s sleeping. I’m putting her to bed.” hushed Edward as he walked up the stairs and walking to her bedroom. Alphonse comes by Emily’s side, “A good looking ginger guy came by and dropped her off asleep in his arms.”

“Oh really? Tension.”

“Right...” sighs Alphones as they go after the two. Edward then kneels by her bed and sets her softly in her bed. He delicately sets her head on her pillow so she doesn’t wake up. Alphonse calls to him, “I know you’re pissed she probably ditched you for that ginger guy, but look at the bright side, it could be worse...”

Edward gives him a death glare. “Ok good night guys!” called Alphonse quickly walking away awkward before his brother could kill him. Edward then grabbed a blanket to drape over Sano. As soon he moves away from her, he feels something tug his collar. Sano’s hand held onto Edward’s shirt for dear life. Emily noticed and smiles before kissing Sano on the forehead and turning to Edward. “I think you should stay with her, Ed.”

“W-What?” Edward looks at Emily, then at Sano flustered.

"She needs to have somebody stay by her side. Since our mom died she just kept everybody out. She needs someone to comfort her.” Edward looked at Emily, biting his lip. “Sano needs somebody who she can open up to. I try but she’s just too stubborn and won’t break when she’s with me.’’ Edward blushes a bit but turned to Sano as she held tightly to his collar like it’s the end of the world. This kind of reminds me of when I push people away... he thought as he grabbed Sano’s hand and held it in his. I pushed people away because I wanted to be a true alchemists and it’ll usually only cause trouble… Edward could now see the real stress building on her face. He saw the small bags under her eyes, her skin a little pale and her hair having some white streaks. She was slowly stressing herself out. Emily patted his shoulder, then left the room leaving them together. She stopped by the doorway and whispered, “Now don’t do anything naughty to my sister Edward.” Edward turned to her with a glare only making her laughed. He returned his gaze to Sano as she sleeps. His eyes soften seeing her peaceful slumber. Edward took her hand and stroke it in his automail hand. He remembered the time they were together in the tight space on the train when she held onto his hand not minding his automail. In my past everybody thought my automail was weird and creepy- even when doing my alchemy. Some thought it was too dangerous and didn’t want to be around me- but there are some that thought it was cool and useful for things. Sano was the one that also thought it wasn’t just cool- but it was like a normal arm. She could wrap her small hands in it and feel my nerves around it and my heartbeat, just like a normal arm. Sano made me feel peaceful and normal. She made me smile again and makes me happy... He then brushed her hair out of her face and brushed her cheeks and chin. He smiled holding onto her hand, feeling that she won’t be able to let him go. He gave a small peck on her hand before he laid his head next to her pillow and closed his eyes as he slept by Sano.

    The next morning, Sano wakes up all groggy and exhausted. She stretches her body out to shift to her side. Then she felt herself get knocked against something. She opened her eyes to someone’s bare chest. She looks up to see a sleeping Edward spooning her. Sano felt her whole face heat up, “AHHHHH!” her scream echoed across the mansion. Everyone woke up immediately, running towards Sano’s room. Once they opened the door, they see Sano throwing pillows and stuff at Edward as he hunches over on the floor. Sano’s face is all red and Edward is yelling at her while getting hit in the face with pillows. “YOU PERVERT!!” called Sano embarrassed as she threw a pillow. “I’M NOT A PERVERT! You wouldn’t let go of my shirt- I had to stay.” Called Edward as his face was slammed with another pillow. Sano then stopped, “I-I did what?”

“You wouldn’t let go of my shirt. So I stayed but I wanted to get comfortable. WE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING IF THAT’S WHAT YOU'RE ASSUMING!” screamed Edward annoyed. But that got her more flustered as everyone started to giggle. Even Emily just smiles, “It’s true, Sano.” She got even more upset and started to throw more pillows at Edward, “YOU LITTLE SHRIMP!” Edward just gets all mad, “AND THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR BEING NICE!” and he starts throwing back pillows at Sano and they start having a pillow fight. Everyone just laughs- with Edward getting tackled by a large stuffed dog…
